Discovery Bottles

My baby is getting bigger. At 7 months I can barely equate him to the little puffy newborn he was just mere months ago. Now he is old enough to sit, grasp and crawl. That means this is my new life:

Put him on the floor. 30 SECONDS

No! Not the TV box. Get up, reposition him. 30 SECONDS.

Ack! Not my shoes. Get up, reposition him. 30 SECONDS.

Oh! Not the power cords. Get up, reposition him. 30 SECONDS.....

Repeat for hours.

I need something to keep this kid occupied for more than 30 seconds. Since he is really into sensory objects that look and feel different, it's time to make discovery bottles. The best thing about making these are they can be made from things around the house and are super easy.

You need:

  • 5-6 empty small plastic water bottles. The 8oz ones work best for tiny hands.
  • Different interesting objects to put inside. I used: foam letters, pom poms, beads, glitter and food coloring & oil.
  • Glue gun.

Peel the label off the bottles and clean the outside. Fill will objects and water. Using a glue gun, quickly run a bead of glue on the inside of the lid and screw shut.

So far these are his favorites.
